Our Informed Investments Portfolio

Our investment approach encourages a focus on targets. We tend to keep losing positions open indefinitely, until our targets are met. We may adjust these targets by increasing the size of our position. In most cases we will only close a position at a loss if the security becomes worthless or if we strongly feel that a company's chances of remaining a going concern are diminished.

What is a Fool (as opposed to a fool), you may ask? A Fool is an investor that is more informed than some of the wisemen on Wall Street, who often end up looking like fools when they make ill-informed investments recommendations. We're here to provide you with unbiased, objective, and multifaceted investment research, gleamed from a variety of sources.

Who is The Motley Fool?

Founded in 1993 in Alexandria, VA., by brothers David and Tom Gardner, The Motley Fool is a multimedia financial-services company dedicated to building the world's greatest investment community. Reaching millions of people each month through its website, books, newspaper column, television appearances, and subscription newsletter services, The Motley Fool champions shareholder values and advocates tirelessly for the individual investor. The company's name was taken from Shakespeare, whose wise fools both instructed and amused, and could speak the truth to the king -- without getting their heads lopped off.

Why Does Informed Investments Use the Motley Fool?

Why are we not hosting our portfolio locally? We decided to stick with our CAPS portfolio, as opposed to hosting our positions on this website, for several reasons. Not the least of which is the debt of gratitude we owe to the Fool for getting us jump started on the investment bandwagon back in the 1990's. But also because the CAPS investment system is powerful, comprehensive, free, and constantly being updated and improved. This way we can make our picks in CAPS, where they are automatically compared to the performance of the S&P 500, as well as tens of thousands of fellow CAPS investors, and focus on more indepth reviews of our picks, along with explanations for our picks, here on Informed Investments.

Enjoy!
